REVOLUTION COUNTDOWN TO NYE CALENDAR
I know, I know, it’s only just October, and this isn’t even an advent calendar, it’s a calendar for between Christmas and New Year’s Eve, but it’s always best to get these things early before they sell out! I was lucky enough to receive this Countdown to NYE calendar from Superdrug for review, but as always, opinions are 100% my own. It retails for £25 and at the moment, you can currently get it from Revolution’s site. I would keep an eye out for offers on Superdrug’s and Revolution’s site as we draw nearer to Christmas! Anyway, here’s what’s inside…

For the 25th of December, we have a highlighter palette in the shade ‘Warm’, which means the four highlights are shades of gold. The first is a champagne with a pink shift, the second is a white gold, the third is a warm yellow gold and the fourth is a copper. I can get away with the first two shades on my fair skin; the other two will have to be eyeshadows.
This is a gloss in the shade ‘Begin’, which is a semi-sheer muted red. It’s not as pigmented as some glosses I own, but is going to add colour and dimension to your lip. It’s not super sticky but will stay wet all day and not dry down. the colour is very christmassy and/or autumnal! It would look nice paired with a dark red lipliner or lipstick underneath.
Next is a lipliner, which doesn’t have a shade name. By the packaging, I was expecting a metallic brown, but I actually got a pink liner with a gold shift, a bit like NARS Orgasm blush in lipliner form. I like Revolution’s lipliners; they last well and are nice and creamy. I think it would have been useful to get a lipliner to match the gloss (or lipstick that I am yet to show you), but it’s still pretty.
This, I’m assuming, is a black liquid eyeliner. Because I don’t wear winged liner, I’ll be popping this in a giveaway (keep an eye out on my youtube channel, it’ll be a surprise in the middle of a future video). Although it’s not useful for me, I’m sure it will be for many people!
This is a metallic liquid lipstick, which is a copper shade. I don’t own any metallic lipsticks, so it’s nice to get something new. The colour and finish feel quite festive, but I’m not sure how good metallic lips look, especially on me!
I thought this was another lip product, but it’s actually a cream/liquid eyeshadow. This is a champagne metallic shade, which dries down really fast (so hopefully no creasing or smudging). I haven’t tried any other liquid eyeshadows from Revolution – do they do any, besides the cream Flawless Foils? – so I’ll be interested in giving it a go.
NEW YEARS EVE
Finally, we have an eyeshadow palette! This is a limited edition palette only in this calendar, and it follows the rest of the Reloaded palette format of 15 shades. It has all foiled or shimmer shadows, no mattes in sight, so I’ll also be including this in a giveaway. I refuse to use a palette that I can’t create a full look out of!
So, that’s everything in the calendar! I think you get some great products in here and it’s worth the £25 it costs. However, I think it would have been a little better to get a ‘full face’ of products (or at least most of a full face) rather than 2 eyeshadow products and 3 lip products. I would have liked to have seen a bronzer and blush instead of the cream eyeshadow and metallic lipstick, and it would have been useful to get a lipliner that matches or compliments the gloss.
You can pick up this calendar from RevolutionBeauty, which ships worldwide.
