LOOKFANTASTIC BEAUTY BOX – SEPTEMBER '17
Happy birthday LookFantastic Beauty Box! To celebrate their birthday month, the #LFBeautyBox theme this time was The Birthday Edit and it features 7 makeup, skincare and hair-care items. LookFantastic’s subscription service is £13 a month and you can sign up here. If you want a discount on your subscription, use the code HELEN-R5E!
As always, we received the Elle magazine for the month, which was extra thick due to it being the September issue. This is worth £4.30! We also got the mini Beauty Box magazine which outlines all the products in the box as well as mini articles about various items on the LookFantastic website and things related to the box’s contents.
The first – and only – hair-care item we got this month is the Cleansing Volumising Paste by Christophe Robin. I don’t necessarily need any volume at my roots, considering the amount of hair I have, but I will use it anyway with crossed fingers. This paste contains pure Rassoul clay and rose extracts and other natural ingredients (85% natural ingredients, to be exact) which is good for problematic hair like mine that doesn’t agree with a lot of chemicals and man-made ingredients. This is a 40ml sample worth £6.80 – the full-size product is £42.50 for 250ml.
This is apparently the world’s most desired cleanser but I can’t say I’ve ever heard of it! This comes with a free (half-size) muslin cloth for opening/closing pores and exfoliating the skin whilst the cleanser is on your face. This is suitable for every skin type and cleanses and tones to leave the skin beautifully soft. As this is a luxe product, this is a 20ml sample worth about £11. The full-size is £55 and 100ml.
Despite this being quite a small sample, I’m quite interested in this as I live in an industrial city which has heavy pollution and I also get dehydrated skin fairly frequently. I haven’t heard of Decléor but this is the Hydra Floral Anti-Pollution Hydrating Gel Cream with Neroli essential oil and Moringa extract (no idea what they are). This is a small sample at only 15ml, but the full-size product is very expensive, at £41 for 50ml, meaning this is worth £12.30.
As a little extra special surprise, we got a lollipop! This is a little Elderflower lolly from Holly’s Lollies (great name… but I may be bias) that was personalised with LookFantastic’s logo and the beauty box theme. You can get ten of these for £32 on Holly’s Lollies site so this is worth approximately £3.20. I gave this to my husband as I knew he’d appreciate it more than me, and he enjoyed it immensely.
This is a LookFantastic-curated eyeshadow brush, with bristles that match the logo colour. It’s so soft and the handle reminds me of a unicorn horn (very on-trend). This is an eye shader brush, which means I’ll be using it to pack on colour onto my outer corner before I blend it out. This is difficult to price as it’s a special brush not available to buy, so I looked at other brushes by LookFantastic and guessed that it would be worth around £5.
I love Illamasqua, so I’m always pleased to see it in my subscription box! This is the Illamasqua Gel Sculpt in the shade Silhouette which is actually the only shade, as it’s apparently a universal colour. This is a really unique formula for a contour stick; it’s not the usual cream contour stick and is instead gel. This means that it’s slightly translucent on the skin and you can build it up as much as you need to (hence why it’s a universal shade!). It smells gorgeous and blends out like a dream. This is a half-size sample – the original is £25 for 8g and this one is 4g and therefore worth £12.50.
Finally in the box is my favourite item – an eyeshadow quad from the brand Hikari! This is the Tonya quad and consists of two mattes and two shimmers – a matte beige, matte deep brown, shimmery burnt orange and shimmery light brown. I do wish there was a darker matte shade rather than the beige so I could do a complete look from just the one palette, but I love the two shimmers! This is worth $15 (around £11.60) and is full-size.
The total value of this box is approximately £67, which is an excellent box value considering we only pay £13 a month! If you do want to sign up, remember to use the code HELEN-R5E using this link and you’ll get a discount. What did you enjoy from the box this month? Let me know in the comments!
