LOOKFANTASTIC BEAUTY BOX – OCTOBER 2018
Okay, I’m not going to lie – I would have loved a spooky theme for this month’s LookFantastic Beauty Box. It’s Halloween month! But instead we have a Hidden Gems theme, which is fair enough. I’m expecting some great yet unknown brands and products in this months box.
If you’re new to my LookFantastic Beauty Box unboxings, I unbox it every single month – it’s a beauty subscription box that costs just £13 a month. If you want to sign up, you can do so here and use the code HELEN-R5E for some money off. Link is affiliated but all opinions are my own!
IN THE BOX
Firstly, as always, we get the Beauty Box magazine (which outlines the box contents and includes some relevant articles) and this month’s copy of Elle magazine, which is worth £4.40 on its own. It’s not my favourite magazine, but I’m not complaining about this added extra.
I do love when we get a sheet mask; I like to do face masks at least once a week, so these always come in handy. This is by Talika and is a detoxing bubble mask. Bubble masks are a lot of fun! I’m not sure how good masks like this actually are for you, but I like putting them on my face either way. This mask is full size (obviously) and retails for £7.99 usually!
This is a night cream, which again is always appreciated. This one’s by MonuSkin and is called the Night Renewal Complex, which is a fancy name for a moisturiser you use at bedtime. The full size is 50ml and a whopping £44.95. This is 30ml, so travel-sized, and worth £26.97! Not bad at all.
This is another moisturiser but for your body rather than your face. I have to say, I don’t moisturise my body nearly as much as I ought to. Perhaps this will encourage me (probably not). I haven’t heard of this brand (hidden gem?), but it’s the Ahava Deadsea Water Mineral Body Lotion. This is a generous sample of 40ml, but the full size is 250ml and £23.49, meaning this one is worth around £3.76.
Another brand I’ve never heard of, this is the Prai Ageless Throat & Decolletage Cream. Who knew you needed a moisturiser for so many specific parts of the body? I certainly didn’t, but at least I’ll be very moisturised after using these products. It may say ageless on the tub, but it’ll probably be for anti-ageing. I may be heading towards my mid-twenties, but I don’t have that problem… yet. This is a 15ml sample worth £7.50; the full size is 50ml and £24.99.
The first makeup item in the box is a lip balm (or possibly a gloss? Maybe just a tint). It’s the Dr. Lipp tint, but the product has more of a gloss (read: sticky) consistency. It’s a bright red shade, but I haven’t been able to put any on my lips due to the fact it doesn’t come out of the tube! I think it’s because the product is thick and the hole is small, but I had to use my Hulk force to get a tiny blob out. Again, this is full size and worth £6.95.
Finally, the last product and the only other makeup product. I was happy to get something from Pixi, as it’s a brand I’d like to try more of. This is a blush, but I couldn’t find these types of blushes to buy from the brand anywhere on the internet, so they may be old stock. I would have liked to get something a little more loved than blusher (hardly anyone I know actually even uses it any more) but I can’t grumble too much. From what I can see, similar products from Pixi are worth £14, and are the same size.
So, in total this month’s box was worth £64.62, which is way over the £13 a month that you pay for subscription. If you do want to sign up, you can do so here, and make sure you use the code HELEN-R5E to get some money off your subscription.
