January 2018 marks an entire year of LookFantastic Beauty Box unboxings. I still love getting them every month, but a year is a long time in the blogging world, and I’m starting to think that maybe I should retire my monthly series. I put up a poll on the Community tab on YouTube about whether people wanted to see more from LookFantastic or get another box (or different ones each month) and the results were pretty evenly tied between keep on unboxing LookFantastic, or try a new one every month or two, so I’m still pretty stumped. Let me know your thoughts – it would really help me out.
The theme for January’s LookFantastic Beauty Box was all about kick-starting your year with a fresh start, so I was expecting a lot of skincare rather than makeup this month. The Beauty Box magazine (containing the product information and other small articles) also had a re-fresh – it’s now landscape rather than a standard portrait magazine. It’s the little details. What hasn’t changed, however, is the Elle magazine we receive every month. I always say this, but it’s a nice added extra to treat yourself with, especially as it’s worth £4.30. Psst: there’s a discount code for this box at the end of the post…
The first item I saw was the Espa Pink Hair & Scalp Mud [travel-size 30ml] which is a pre-shampoo treatment to cleanse and nourish hair – a bit like a face mask for your head. I don’t tend to enjoy haircare items in the LookFantastic Beauty Box as, well, I prefer makeup or skincare, but it’s a rare occasion that we do end up getting a hair product so I’ll let it slide this time.
The MonuSpa Warming Ginger Bath & Body Oil was next [travel-size 40ml], which was a nice find. I’m enjoying using oils on my face at the moment so I’m looking forward to using them on my body! You can even drip this in the bath as a bath oil. Again, it’s not a skincare or makeup product so this isn’t the best thing for me to receive, but I’ll happily use it.
Next up is the BalanceMe Congested Skin Serum [travel size 7ml] which my spotty skin desperately needs. I just wish this was a bigger size as I have a lot of blemishes! My go-to spot-clearing product isn’t currently working, so I’m looking forward to testing out this one. Or maybe I need to drink more water…
A new cleanser! This is the Korres White Tea Gel Cleanser [travel size 30ml] which I’m interested to test out as I’ve never tried a gel formula in cleanser-form before. I do have a lot of cleansers to get through, though, so it will be a while before I test it out. I try a lot of the samples in vlogs on my vlog channel, Vloggife.
The last skincare item in the box is an Erno Laszlo Liquid Essence [travel size 15ml], which I was confused about until I realised it was a toner. It’s a really cute bottle! The full-size version is a hefty £62 so I have high hopes for this toner. I’m hoping it’ll hydrate my skin, do my laundry, write its own review and then end world hunger.
Finally, the only makeup item in the box this month! This is the Model Co 3D Lash Primer [full size 3ml] which, as it says on the tin, is a full-size product and is the only full-size item in the LookFantastic Beauty Box this month. It’s a standard lash primer that basically looks like ‘white mascara’. I’ve never thought lash primers do much in terms of making lashes look better, or preparing the eyelashes in any way for mascara, but I’ll hold back my judgement until I’ve actually used it.
The total value for this month’s LookFantastic Beauty Box is £41, which isn’t the best value we’ve ever had, but also isn’t the worst. I do prefer the boxes when they include more makeup items rather than body/haircare, but I’m sure I’ll get use out of everything in this month’s selection! If you want to sign up, use the code ‘HELEN-R5E‘ for money off here! The box is £13 a month if not.
