LOOKFANTASTIC BEAUTY BOX / APRIL 2017
We had a little bit of a longer wait for this month’s LFBeautyBox, due to the Easter weekend pushing things back. However, it’s always worth the wait and this month is no exception! The theme of Beauty Awakening, focusing on updating your beauty routine and discovering new brands, with a look into natural ingredients. Hopefully this will leave us ready for summer with radiant skin.
If you do want to sign up for the LFBeautyBox for this – or future – months, you can do so by clicking here! If you want some money off, use the referral code HELEN-R5E when you sign up. It’s between £13-15 a month (depending on how many months you sign up for) and you always get more than that in terms of value each month. I’ve unboxed this box for over a year now so if you’d like to see previous boxes, check out the posts I’ve previously written.
We always get a complimentary copy of Elle magazine, which is worth £4.30 by itself. It’s not something I’d probably buy with my own money, but it does give me a chance to read something new whilst putting on a facemask on a friday evening. We also got the mini Beauty Box magazine, which outlines everything in the month’s LFBeautyBox as well as sharing tips for using the goodies, a sneak peek of next month’s box and other articles (this month we have a piece about awakening your skincare routine, a guide to vitamins, all about GlamGlow masks, a recipe for a homemade face mask, and how to clean your makeup brushes).
The first product I smelt in the box is the Vegan by Dr. Botanicals Bergamot & Poppy Seed Smoothing Body Exfoliating Bar. It’s basically a soap with natural ‘micro beads’ (poppy seeds) that you use in the shower to get rid of dead skin on your face, body and hands. The bar contains shea butter and macadamia oil cleanses and hydrates your complexion. As I said, it was the first thing I smelt – it has a very strong citrus. The Beauty Box magazine recommends leaving it on your skin for 3 minutes before washing off to fully hydrate.
Nuxe is a brand we’ve seen a lot in beauty boxes, and I’ve actually even had this product before in a Love Me Beauty Edit. This is the Nuxe 48hr Anti-Pollution Moisturising Cream, which is a 15ml travel-sized product. I previously enjoyed this product so I’m not unhappy about getting another. It contains vegetable milks and algae extract which protects the skin, and the scent is orange blossom, freesia and woody aromas. The Beauty Box magazine says that it’s best used before sleep.
GlamGlow is a very popular brand and not something I thought we’d get in the LookFantastic box. This is the Supermud Clearing Treatment which can be used as a face mask or spot treatment. There’s only 15g of product in the sample to test. The treatment is designed for problems skin to help with blemishes with a blend of acids and oils to unclog pores. Beauty Box magazine suggests using a pea-sized amount of the mask on a blemish and leaving for 20 minutes.
Moving on, the Moringa Cleansing Balm is something I’ve already got as well – I think I got this in the M&S Beauty Advent Calendar at Christmas. This is a cleanser in balm form (if you couldn’t tell by the name) which is used to melt the makeup off of your face. It works fairly well; not as good as my normal cleanser but it feels more moisturising than a standard makeup remover (or, god forbid, a makeup wipe). I haven’t used my old one up yet, so this will take a while to get through!
Penultimately, we received the Nip+Fab Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads. You only get 10 pads, which is a third of the usual amount and they’re also smaller in diameter than the full-size versions. These pads are very popular, and I’ve enjoyed using them in the past as well. I do wish you got a few more – this pack will last me 5 days – but it’s a good chance to try them out before investing in the tub. You use these after washing your face in the morning and after cleansing in the evening.
Finally, our only bit of makeup: a travel-sized Fully Charged mascara from Pür, which I haven’t ever used before. I love testing mascaras because my lashes are a bit of a nightmare, so I’m always looking for new ones to test out. This one claims to be powered by Magnetic Technology, which sounds amazing. I had a little google about what that meant, and it told me that it acts as an anti-ageing treatment by lifting, separating and defining each lash. It contains Carnuaba Wax for condition and nourishing with a lightweight feeling.
