OCTOBER EDIT / 2018

Happy Halloween! Whether you celebrate it or not, I hope you had/have a great evening. I’m not doing anything on actual Halloween, but I did go to event a few days before – read about that in the Life Update section! October was another month that went really quickly, and as we’re rapidly approaching my birthday, I’d quite like it to slow the HELL down, thank you very much.

At the end of every month, I’ve decided to create my monthly Edits – a mixture of product favourites, other things I’ve been loving, a life update and any other bits and pieces I want to include. It’ll be a great way to summarise my month and something interesting to look back on in the future. Links are affiliated.

THE MONTHLY EDIT - OCTOBER 2018

SHOP MY FAVES
Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink / £9.99 / SUPERDRUG / BOOTS
Maybelline Extreme Chrome Highlighter / £8.99 / SUPERDRUG
Revolution Conceal & Define Foundation / £9 / SUPERDRUG / REVOLUTIONBEAUTY
CYO Lifeproof Foundation / £7.50 / BOOTS

If you’ve seen my haul, you’d have seen how much new makeup I’ve bought myself! Most of it was for various YouTube videos, but I have been enjoying treating myself to things for myself too. I have three different shades of the Maybelline Superstay Matte Inks, which I highly recommend if you want a lipstick that will stay put all day no matter what. You can eat, drink, kiss – whatever you want – and these lippies will stay on your lips. Also from Maybelline is the Extreme Chrome highlighter in the shade Diamond Glow which is so intense and reflective! I enjoyed testing the new Revolution foundation and it’s become my new everyday go-to. Another one I’m enjoying is the CYO Lifeproof foundation which is almost the same as my favourite Seventeen Stay Time, which was discontinued. Finally, I managed to snag ABH Prism in TKMaxx for just £25! It’s so beautiful.

THE MONTHLY EDIT - OCTOBER 2018

I picked up a couple of pairs of earrings that I’m loving this month. One pair is from Primark and is definitely on-trend with the resin and vintage-style. The other pair is from New Look and are gold snakes, which I’m obsessed with. I have two real snakes myself, so I’m loving all the snake print that’s in shops at the moment.

I’ve had a couple of events this month that needed a more formal outfit and I went completely out of my comfort zone and chose a bodycon dress! I’ve been too self-conscious for around four years to wear anything tight fitting without shoving an oversized jumper over the top, but I got myself some spanx and a new bra and I felt good about myself for the first time in so long. The material of the dress (which is from Boohoo) means it sucks me in as well. It’s really difficult to find a dress I love as I’m so fussy – it has to have long sleeves, can’t be high necked, has to be flattering for my body shape, and so on – but I feel like this one is everything I need!

LIFE UPDATE

THE MONTHLY EDIT - OCTOBER 2018

As I mentioned, I went to a Halloween event. The event I went to was the Revolution Beauty Halloween party! I was lucky enough to be invited to another party (I also went to the birthday event in March) and could also bring a plus-one, so I obviously brought along my husband. The party was in the Natural History Museum which was stunning and so incredibly wonderful to have a party in. Free drinks means I had a slight (read: massive) hangover the next morning, but it was such a fun night. I dyed my hair green for the event, but I feel like that was probably a mistake.

I also went to a wedding this month, which means my diet has pretty much gone out the window for now. I’m still trying to eat healthily,  but I’m definitely not being as strict as I should be!

Lastly, this month we started renovating the bathroom. We haven’t got far at all (we fit a new toilet and took the mirror and blinds off the wall) but we did start, and that’s the main thing. As we can’t afford new tiles (or to plaster the walls), we’re painting our old ugly tiles plain white and fitting new flooring and a new suite. We’re also painting our heated towel warmer rather than buying a new one! It’ll still be expensive but not as bad as we originally thought. However, we discovered a series of cracks in our attic so we may need to stop renovating and pay for our roof to be fixed.
