A couple of weeks back, I asked you lovely lot for questions and thankfully you didn’t disappoint! Make sure to check out the bloggers, ‘grammers and tweeters who sent in their questions; their links are provided with each question. I’m doing a YouTube Q+A soon too, so leave your questions below for a chance to get a shout-out in the video! Any questions I didn’t answer in this Q+A will be in that video, so subscribe so you can see that when it comes out!
“WHEN DID YOU START YOUR BULLET JOURNAL AND WHAT TIPS WOULD YOU GIVE A BEGINNER?” – styledbymckenz.com
I started my bullet journal in May 2016, so just over a year ago! For anyone thinking about starting one for themselves, try not to get overwhelmed by all the different options for spreads and just focus on what you need to track and keep on top of. Don’t compare your journal to anyone else’s; you’ll end up with spreads you don’t need and a style you don’t like.
“WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT BEING A BLOGGER/YOUTUBER?” – thepbfamily.blogspot.com
Many things! I love being creative and being a blogger/youtuber means my whole job is about creativity. I get to work for myself and set my own rules – no dress code, guidelines or commute. As there isn’t any rules or boss looming over my head, the only pressure I feel is what I put on myself and no scary deadlines, just my own schedule and goals.
“WHAT’S YOUR FAVOURITE MAKEUP OR CLOTHING WEBSITE?” – beautybyadutchgirl.com
Obviously I’m a huge fan of TAMBeauty.com, which sells Makeup Revolution, I♥Makeup, Makeup Obsession and Freedom (among other brands) which are my favourite drugstore brands. They’re such amazing quality for the price and are definitely a pride of the UK beauty industry. For higher end bits, I like Beauty Bay or Cult Beauty. For clothes, BooHoo is great! I just wish Primark sold online…
“WHEN DID YOU START WEARING MAKEUP AND WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST BUY? AND WHO IS YOUR FAVE BLOGGER?” – @meena_blaque
I started wearing makeup at age 12 or 13 (a whole decade ago!!!), just some mascara and lipgloss. I started wearing more (eyeliner, powder, lipstick) at college and have only been doing ‘proper’ makeup for about 18 months or so! One of the first makeup products I got was the Rimmel Stay Matte powder. I still have a pan of it! And my favourite blogger is a more difficult question. I love Mikhila.com, amyfarquhar.com and jessicajadebeauty.com though!
“IF YOU HAD A HOUSE FIRE AND COULD ONLY SAVE 3 THINGS (BESIDES PEOPLE AND PETS), WHAT WOULD YOU SAVE?” – @nataliecerysx
1. My handbag. This is totally cheating, but I’d make sure my phone, camera and important documents like my passport were in there. 2. My computer. It might be a bit difficult to carry my PC out but my computer has ALL of my memories on, especially my wedding photos. It’s also how I do my job, so I’d be screwed if it burnt down. 3. My favourite makeup. How could I leave my favourites behind? I’d shove my more expensive products and ‘holy grails’ in a bag and cradle them like the babies they are to me. [does anyone want to see a holy grails post or youtube video?]
“ARE YOU ENJOYING LIVING UP NORTH OR WOULD YOU PREFER TO BE LIVING DOWN SOUTH AGAIN?” – mermaidoutofwater83.wordpress.com
For those of you who don’t know, I grew up in a small town on the south coast, near Brighton. I went to university in Cheltenham, where I met my husband, and we now live in his hometown of Stoke-on-Trent. I sometimes miss the seaside and the cities I grew up in (Chichester + Brighton) but it’s so much cheaper here. I don’t really like Stoke to live in but I don’t mind living up north too much. I wouldn’t mind living nearer a larger city like Manchester but for now, we’re fine. Maybe when we’re richer we can move further south again…
“WHAT’S ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?” – Mia Ziogas
I actually have an entire blog post about what’s on my bucket list! It’s an old post, but You can read it here. But my main life goals are to go to Disney and the other theme parks in Orlando (I have been once but I was too young/short!), adopt a kitten and own my own home. I do think bucket lists can make you forget to live in the ‘now’ and so I tend to set short-term goals instead for the month or year.
“WHAT’S THE ONE ITEM OF MAKEUP YOU CAN’T LIVE WITHOUT?” – Helen
The makeup product I’d use over anything is a brow pencil. I have dark hair and light eyebrows (as I’m naturally blonde) so I always need to fill them in. I like Rimmel’s brow pencil for something super quick, Primark’s wax, or the Benefit Gimme Brow. Mascara is a very close second because I think it makes such a difference, even if you don’t have any other makeup on at all (my favourite is L’Oreal’s baby roll).
