ABH RIVIERA PALETTE
Anastasia Beverly Hills dropped their newest palette and, of course, social media went wild for it. ABH’s new releases are always exciting, but especially the Riviera palette as it had some brighter shades not usually seen in their palettes.
It retails for £46 (find it on BeautyBay!), which is £3 more expensive than their other palettes besides Sultry (I remember when they were £41…) but the US sites are listing it for $45, which works out as £34.50. I’m not sure whether it’s to do with import fees or just lazy pricing, but I’m a little annoyed about the price hike!
The packaging for the palette is beautiful – I’m glad it’s not a velvet finish like the previous ones (minus Sultry, which was glittery). It feels almost like denim, and it definitely reminds me of Spring.
Inside the palette is even more Spring-like! We’ve been used to a lot of neutrals with a few pops of colour with ABH palettes, but we have a lot more fun shades, like bright pink, purple and blue. The only thing I think looks a little out of place is the dark brown on the far right. Next to the purple it looks a little strange; I probably would have preferred a navy blue instead.
Here are the swatches. As always with ABH formula (and as you’d hope for £46!) everything swatched beautifully. I love the shade range – minus the dark brown – and the shimmers are so unique. I think the peachy neutrals are perfect for the season. As I said, I do think a navy blue would have been perfect to add to the palette.
For this eye look, I actually started with a half-cut crease, with the purple on the outer corner. However, I really struggled with getting the purple to look good – it kept going patchy as I blended it and didn’t look the best. I do need to play around with it more before I make up my mind fully, but it was a shame. On the lid I used the shades Seaside and Mediterranean, and in the crease I used the pink, called Bahamas, and a little bit of the purple, Cannes, on the cut crease line.
Overall, this is a stunning palette. I do wish the purple worked better, but I do want to play with it more before I decide. I am excited to use Riviera more in Spring!
Again, if you do want to pick the palette up, it’s £46 from BeautyBay.
