TOP 10 DRUGSTORE MAKEUP PRODUCTS
It’s quite a task to narrow down the thousands of products you can find in Superdrug and Boots down to just ten items. Somehow I managed it! I’ve tried to get a big mix of products from different brands, but I’ve decided to leave Revolution Beauty brands out of this list – I’ll be doing a separate post for that as there’s just too many great things to mention! These products aren’t in any particular order, but here are my current faves.
Links are affiliated but opinions are my own
1. REVLON PHOTOREADY CANDID FOUNDATION
This is quite a new purchase for me, so it’s risky to add it on a top ten, but I fell in love with this foundation the first time I used it. It has a very natural finish – it literally looks like skin – and a buildable medium coverage. I don’t actually have to set this foundation with powder and yet it lasts all day without transferring, creasing or going oily. You can get it from Superdrug and Boots.
2. L’OREAL INFALLIBLE MORE THAN CONCEALER
L’Oreal’s previous popular concealer was the True Match, which actually burned my eyes when I used it, so I was a little worried about the More Than concealer. Luckily, it didn’t burn and I was really happy with the full coverage formula and shade range. It almost rivals my favourite Revolution concealer! You can get this from Boots and Superdrug.
3. BARRY M SERUM MIST IN CALMING ROSE
This is another fairly new purchase, but I used this product every day since I got it, so I’ve probably used it more than a lot of my other sprays! As it’s a serum mist rather than a setting spray, it contains some great skincare ingredients to refresh and calm the skin, but also works to help powder products look less cakey. I love it! You can find it in Superdrug.
4. ESSENCE MAKE ME BROW
I’m not sure whether this is classed as drugstore or not, as Essence is found at Wilko rather than Boots or Superdrug. However, I couldn’t leave this out as I think it’s the best brow product I’ve come across. It’s a dupe of the Benefit Gimme Brow and works in the same way – it adds colour and volume to brows as well as working as a gel to set them down. If you don’t have a Wilko near you and don’t fancy paying for shipping, you can find it on Amazon (for double the price…).
5. COLLECTION PRIMED & READY SETTING POWDER
This has been my favourite powder of all time for a couple of years now and I recommend it in every video/blog posts like this one. It’s an invisible setting powder, meaning that you don’t see it on the skin and it doesn’t make your foundation darker. It sets everything down easily without looking cakey or too powdery and dry. You can find it in Superdrug and Boots.
6. L’OREAL LIFE’S A PEACH BLUSHER
I discovered this blush a few months ago and I am so glad I picked it up on a whim! It has become my favourite blush ever and I think it would suit so many different people. It’s a soft sheen blush (glowy without looking like highlighter) and the orange-peach shade is so flattering on a lot of skin tones. It’s definitely worth heading into Superdrug or Boots and giving it a swatch.
7. NIP + FAB TRAVEL PALETTE
I love a good face palette, and the Nip + Fab Travel palette is a great one to grab if you’re pale like me! This is the light/medium shade but I would say it’s suited to fair/light skin tones. The highlight is subtle but pretty, the blush blends out nicely the the bronzer isn’t too warm nor too cool so it works well for me. You can find it in Superdrug.
8. MUA BROW DEFINE MICRO PENCIL
I love preceise brow pencils as I think they’re easy to use and give the most natural looking brow whilst still filling and shaping them. Personally, I find 99% brow pencils (even high-end) are the same, so why not go for a cheaper one? The MUA Brow Define pencil is great; I can’t fault it in any way. Find it on Superdrug.
9. COLLECTION GLAM CRYSTALS GLITTER LINER
Another holy grail Collection product! These glitter liners rival high-end ones. They don’t flake off or smudge – when they’re dry, they’re there until you purposefully take it off. They just last for ages! The usual issue with cheaper glitter liners is that they’re mostly just clear jelly with some glitter, but these are nicely pigmented and full of glitter. Find the shades on Superdrug and Boots.
10. NYX SOFT MATTE LIP CREAM
If you need any shade of lipstick ever, you can count on Nyx. My favourite Nyx lip product is the soft matte lip creams, purely because they’re so comfortable to wear and so easy to apply. They dry down on your lips so it feels like you’re not wearing anything, which is the dream! They’re usually a little sheer, but you just have to build them up a bit for more pigment. You can find them in Superdrug and Boots.
