BLOG REVAMP & RE-MOTIVATION
If you’ve read my Cyprus ‘travel diary’, where I mentioned briefly how the trip had conjured up some new inspiration and a desire to change the way I blog and my style of post.

I was flicking through one of the many glossy magazines I had taken with me for sunbathing reading matieral when I realised that I wanted more for hollifeblog.com. I wanted it to feel more like the magazines I’d been reading every month for a decade; more professional and editorial, yet still packed with personality. I had been demotivated for a while, writing so many palette reviews and not much else that I was passionate about. I stopped trying and the blog became noticeably staler. It’s time things changed!
You may gave noticed a new theme. It feels softer and cleaner and less harsh now; it’s not perfect but it’s the best I can do with no budget. Especially-avid readers may have browsed the new ‘contents’ page, where each category of post is linked along with examples of popular posts within that category. These will be updated regularly to showcase newer posts, too.
Probably the most substantial addition so far is the new ‘about me’ section. I’ve never really known what to write in any ‘bio’ sections of my internet presence, but I took some time to think and plan it out and I’m pleased with how it reads. Give it a browse and let me know what you think.
In terms of actual content, it’s very early days, so there hasn’t been a huge amount of difference. But give it a few weeks and you should be able to gather what direction I’m heading in. I’m still a beauty blog, don’t worry about that! It’s more to do with the style of writing and (hopefully) the quality of each post. I’ve always been a writer, so I think it’s time to prove that.
I’ve decided to create separate posts for each YouTube video I make, which you might have noticed already. I’m proud of my videos and wanted to showcase them in their own merit rather than squeezing them at the end of a related blog post. There will be 3 of these a week!
Now onto the schedule. Ignoring, for a moment, my YouTube videos, I will be posting four times a week from June 1st. This is so I can spend more time perfecting each post, making sure I’m happy with everything in it. Getting the photos right will most likely be a learning curve but I want to work as hard as possible so I can continually improve in that aspect. I will also be working more on the promotion of my content and posting every day in all my social media accounts, so make sure you’re following me everywhere (there’s direct links in my ‘about me’ page). Here’s my schedule in an easy-to-read format:
- Monday: Blog Post
- Tuesday: YouTube Video
- Wednesday: Blog Post
- Thursday: YouTube Video
- Friday: Blog Post
- Saturday: Blog Post
- Sunday: YouTube Video
During the weekdays, blog posts will be posting at 5pm UK time, and YouTube videos will be posted at 8pm. On Saturday, the post will be up at 3pm and Sunday’s video will be posted at 12pm. So, as you can see, I’ll be posting content every single day!
