PROJECT PAN UPDATE: WHY I GAVE UP
Long-time readers of my blog, or subscribers to my YouTube channel may remember the time in January 2018 where I started creating Project Pan content. I started off with 5 products to ease myself into it, choosing items that were used frequently anyway, to try and encourage me to use them up.
In my first update after the initial post, I talked about how difficult I was finding it due to other commitments for videos.
I kept forgetting to use them, even though they were kept in a separate place away from the rest of my collection. I just wasn’t used to using the same things every day! I was also having to contend with my Makeup Roulette challenge… and also as I was anticipating a giant declutter, I was trying to test my entire collection out before that happened. Using the same products each day was just too much on top of that.
As well as this, my project pan products just seemed to keep going, and it was frustrating having to keep using the same thing over and over again. When you have a big makeup collection, using the same products each day gets tiring and feels wasteful of all the other products. I just wanted to play with different products, not use the same 5 boring ones over and over again. As I’m writing this, I still have product left in every item except the Primark foundation, which I binned.
I tried. And that’s the main thing, right? I decided I like to use different makeup every day, I like not having to bin my makeup after a few weeks. I know there’s a Use By date for a reason, but I haven’t got any diseases yet (fingers crossed), so I’m okay with having slightly older makeup that hasn’t been completely used up yet.
I don’t feel bad or guilty for giving up with Project Pan; it just wasn’t for me. And that’s okay!
