LOOKFANTASTIC BEAUTY BOX – AUGUST 2018
This is the second month in a row that I’ve totally forgotten that I was meant to receive the LFBeautyBox in the post! So that was a nice surprise when it did land on my doorstep at the beginning of the month. This month’s theme was confidence, which means I expect to find bold products to enhance features.
If you’re new to my LookFantastic Beauty Box unboxings, I do these every single month – you can see past months here – and I have been subscribed for over 18 months! LFBeautyBox is a monthly subscription box filled with beauty products and costs just £13-15 a month (depending on how long you sign up for). You can sign up here, and if you use the referral code HELEN-R5E you’ll get some money off!
IN THE BOX
As LookFantastic is partnered with Elle, you get a free copy of Elle magazine in every box, which is a little extra treat that saves you £4.30 if you were to buy it yourself. It’s the previous month’s issue (August’s issue is released in July), but it’s nice all the same.
Also included is the BeautyBox magazine, which outlines the products in the box as well as articles that fit the theme. It’s good for a quick flick-through!
First is probably the most ‘boring’ product, and that’s the balanceme Pure Skin face wash. It’s 99% natural, meaning it’s great for sensitive skin and for those who want to reduce the chemicals you use on your skin. We have had this face wash before, months ago, and I already have about 5 face washes I need to use up. It’ll get used, but this is a bit meh for me. This is a 40ml sample, worth £5.12 (full size is £16).
This is another product I’m not too excited about. It’s the Molton Brown Body Wash in the Pink Pepperpod scent. This is 100ml, so another travel-sized sample worth £6.67 (full size is £20). Molton Brown is a luxury company, but I can’t really get too thrilled about a shower gel, no matter how fancy. The scent is okay, but I’m not a fan of the jelly consistency, which is difficult to use without wasting lots as it flops off your skin into the bath. It’s also awkward to get out the bottle, as you end up squeezing it all out in one go.
I wasn’t expecting this! It’s the Mio Boob Tube+ Multi-action Bust Cream, which helps to firm and moisturise the chest area. I do need a firmer bust (doesn’t everyone?) but I’m always quite skeptical of these sorts of products. How can they actually help? Again, another travel-sized sample at 30ml, worth £8.85 (full size £29.50). I’ll use this for a while and see if my boobs miraculously firm up. But I’m doubtful.
Something else for firming! We’ve seen this brand before but with a different product. This time it’s the Erno Laszlo Firm & Lift Firmarine Lift Essence Lotion. Instead of the chest, this is for the face and helps to firm that saggy skin. Not something I’m needing at the moment (I’m only 23, thank you) but it’s better to prevent than try and cure. This is a 15ml sample, worth £4.42 (full size is a whopping £59).
Okay, so this tiny tube might not look like much, but it’s actually my favourite item in the box this month. It’s the BBB London Brow Build Gel, which is basically a tinted brow gel like the Gimme Brow that aims to add brow hairs where there aren’t many. This is a really tiny sample but I’m looking forward to using this; I love a brow gel. It should work for my hair colour too, as it’s a mid-brown. This teeny 2ml sample is worth £8.89 (full size is worth £20).
Finally, we have a full-size product(!!) from INCredible, the makeup side-brand of Nails Inc. This is a Glazin Over lip glaze in the shade Plans Today, which is a pink-mauve. Not quite my colour, but it’s nice to get a lipstick in the box, as it seems to be quite rare. There’s 3.4ml of product in here, and it’s worth £8. It claims to hydrate and have a super pigmented glossy formula.
In total, the value for this box was £46.25, which is a pretty average-low amount compared to other months. But as it’s only £13 a month to buy, I would say that’s pretty good value. Again, if you do want to sign up you can do so here, and use the code HELEN-R5E for money off.
