HOW TO WEAR: FESTIVE MAKEUP
Welcome to How To Wear, where I take products a little out-of-the-ordinary and show you how you can wear them every day! ‘Tis the season for festive makeup and although the YouTube makeup tutorials look quite scary with all the glitter and candycanes, you can still be in the spirit of things without going full-on Santa’s elf.
THE RED LIP
The red lip is a staple for Christmas. Nothing says ‘I’m classy yet festive’ like a classic red lip. I’ve even done a ‘How to Wear’ post about red lipstick – read that here. You can do whatever you want on the eyes when wearing a red lip as the focus will be on the lips. Even if nothing else about you is festive… you’ll give off the vibe that you are in fact feeling Christmassy.
Glitter isn’t scary, promise (I’ve also done a glitter ‘How to Wear’ post for more ideas)! For a festive look, do a standard eyeshadow look – any will do – and place some loose glitter or glitter cream eyeshadow all over the lid. Add copious amounts of highlighter to the inner corners and cheekbones and whack on a lipstick and you’re done. This could be a super easy way to go from day to night if you’re heading to an office party straight after work – all you need to take is some glitter, highlighter and lipstick with you.

For the artistic and nimble-handed, why not try some actual art on your eyelids? This is mostly for the experts and the ambitious, but for something extra special, you could use lipsticks and eyeliners on a very fine brush and draw on holly leaves, candy canes or santa hats onto your eyelids or brow area. Take your time, keep the rest of your makeup super simple and practice first!
If you’re after something a little easier and more subtle, try a deep green smokey eye with some gold shimmer on the lid. For more advanced makeup-wears, try a cut crease with a glitter liner outlining the crease and gold shimmer on top of the concealer. Pair with a nude lip or a red lip if you want it to be obvious.
Hopefully I’ve given you plenty of inspo for your Christmas parties or festive occasions! If you have any festive Makeup looks on your blogs, link them below and I’ll have a read!
