Finding a highlighter that is suitable for paler skin can be tricky; more often than not I get the tell-tale darker streak on my cheekbones when I expected to see a glow! So, I’ve taken one for the team and tested out as many as […]
Bronzers are notoriously tricky to find for those of us who are pale AF, especially from the drugstore, where shade ranges are often not great. However, I’ve accumulated my personal favourites under a tenner that should work for most paler skin tones. I’ve also done a […]
Concealers are a tricky one to find if you’re as white as a ghost like me. It gets even more difficult if you’re after a more affordable, drugstore option. Shade ranges are definitely improving (expansion of existing shade ranges and new launches with both paler […]
I haven’t been abroad since my honeymoon, so when my husband suggested a city break to Estonia to visit a friend who moved there, I jumped at the chance. It’s no secret that money is tight for us, so instead of having to save for […]
18 months of unboxing the LookFantastic Beauty Box! I can’t believe I’ve been subscribed for a year and a half. I think I’ve only ever missed two unboxing posts – once in March this year, when I took some time off, and the very first […]
I recently put together a list of all my favourite makeup products from drugstores, but I soon realised that it would be dominated by Revolution Beauty brands! Therefore, I thought I’d separate it and put Revolution Pro, I Heart Revolution and Makeup Revolution in its […]
It’s quite a task to narrow down the thousands of products you can find in Superdrug and Boots down to just ten items. Somehow I managed it! I’ve tried to get a big mix of products from different brands, but I’ve decided to leave Revolution […]
If you’re a frequenter of Twitter and keep up to date with what Influencers are up to, you’ve probably come across the word ‘cancelled’ before, and not just in regards to Southern Rail services. ‘Cancelled culture’ has become somewhat of a debated topic recently, so […]
April is a funny month. Technically, it’s mid-Spring, so the weather can be gloriously warm (around Easter we had a few days of 24 degree sunshine) but at the drop of a hat can turn sour (after the bank holiday, we had a solid week […]
I’m currently writing this as it’s grey, rainy and windy outside, so I’m not feeling in the Springtime mood whatsoever. This time a week ago it was almost reaching 25 degrees and we were having a barbecue, so it felt more like summer was just […]
It’s been a while since I talked about my favourite things. I’ve done this post before, twice in fact, but I was looking back at it the other day and thought they were fairly outdated. I always love chatting about palettes, so… we find ourselves […]
Let me start the post by saying this: I don’t think anyone should have to justify why they don’t want children. It should just be a normal preference like wanting salt on your chips is. Some people want to have children and some don’t – […]
I’m writing a book, as you probably guessed from the title of this post. For me, the most difficult thing was getting started; now that I’ve written my first 5000 words, the task doesn’t seem so mammoth and daunting anymore! I’m hoping that, by telling […]

April is a funny month. Technically, it’s mid-Spring, so the weather can be gloriously warm (around Easter we had a few days of 24 degree sunshine) but at the drop of a hat can turn sour (after the bank holiday, we had a solid week of rain, wind and thunderstorms). As well as the weather, this month has been quite unpredictable in that we’ve accomplished some things I didn’t think would happen, and failed at something I didn’t want to fail at.
At the end of every month, I’ve decided to create my monthly Edits – a mixture of product favourites, other things I’ve been loving, a life update and any other bits and pieces I want to include. It’ll be a great way to summarise my month and something interesting to look back on in the future. Links are affiliated.
I’ve been really embracing the Springtime makeup trend of using mostly/all cream products to look more natural, so I picked up a couple of cream blushes from MUA and Maybelline which I’ve really been enjoying for a more radiant finish. The Revlon candid foundation also just really looks like skin, so makes a great base to pair it with. Anyone who knows me will immediately know I love the Deep Dive palette because of all those blues and greens!
I have been searching for some mom jeans for what seems like months, and I have finally found a pair that both fits as I want them to and looks good with everything – the dream pair of jeans! It’s difficult to skate the line between fashionable and frumpy with mom jeans in particular, but I’m loving how they look. They’re from Boohoo – I sized up for a looser fit and I’m glad I did. I’ve also picked up a couple of Game of Thrones tees that I’m obsessed with. They’re oversized (as is most things in my wardrobe) and fit really nicely without making me feel self-conscious like I do in most t-shirts.
Without sounding too much like I’m bragging, we managed to renovate a room in the house in just one weekend. The bathroom took four months to complete; the beauty room took three months. The living room took two days. Admittedly, it did only need another coat of paint, some new furniture and some curtains, but I’m still proud of the achievement. We’ve got a new sofa coming from Harvey’s in the next few weeks (I’ll show you in the next monthly edit, I hope) and I still need to buy a bookcase for the never-ending pile of DVDs I own, but it’s basically finished.
Something I’m not quite as proud of is how drastically I failed my diet. It got to around Easter and I knew I’d be scoffing Easter Eggs (and had made my peace with the fact) but I didn’t plan on eating a slew of unhealthy dinners the week following as well. I’m starting again in May…
WATCHING / Game of Thrones (eek). I also went and watched Endgame this month and I’m still not recovered fully READING / Nothing! I have a few books to get through but it’s a busy time as we’re going away twice in May, meaning I have to pre-record a lot / PLAYING / Cities: Skylines. Chris got a new laptop, which is powerful enough to play it on for once (I’ve owned the game for three years) / WEARING / So. Many. Mom. Jeans. / USING / I picked up a lot of the Alex Steinherr skincare from Primark / EATING Too much bad stuff / LISTENING TO / Guardians of the Galaxy soundtrack – a classic.
